The Sound Behind the Music
My musical & spiritual influences
Raised from the age of two to study God’s Word, I saw both the benefits of study, research, and a moral lifestyle, and the failings of organized religion when it becomes about control and abuse. I can relate to the many who were let down and betrayed by men who claimed to represent God.My goal is to be a voice for those people. I understand how someone could blame God or decide to “throw the baby out with the bath water.” But when we do that, we’re throwing our own lives away too — and the devil wins. I am dedicated to not letting that happen.I work tirelessly to reach them through my music. That is why my style is what it is. If I were only creating for those already strong in the faith, the music might sound more like traditional church gospel. I would love for believers to connect with it as well, but I decided long ago to target those who are still undecided, still hurting, and still searching. Through every song, I implore them to give God one more chance.
My two biggest musical influences helped shape the way I carry out the vision, but the purpose itself came from God long before I recognized it.Long before I ever heard them, I already carried the desire to promote God’s message through music. Tupac showed me that hip-hop could speak on society, confront real issues, and still encourage and uplift. DMX revealed the power of spiritual honesty, proving that faith and raw emotion could live on the same track.Seeing them do what I already felt called to do fanned the flame. Their work confirmed that it was possible to create the way I believed it could be done. They helped hone the vision and gave me the courage to walk in it.
